Mobile Messaging: Exchange ActiveSync (EAS)
Windows Mobile-based devices make it easy for you to keep information on your mobile device synchronized with information on your desktop or notebook computer by using ActiveSync. ActiveSync can be configured to synchronize whenever you connect your device to your computer. For example, when you dock your Pocket PC Phone Edition in its cradle, ActiveSync can automatically check your e-mail, contacts, calendar and tasks in Microsoft Outlook for differences between the device and your computer and then make the necessary updates.
Some additional benefits include:
Reduced carry around bulk and weight
Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices come in small packages yet they can hold large amounts of data. For someone already carrying product samples and literature to leave with a customer, a small wireless device can provide a lot of benefit without adding much bulk or weight. With integrated wireless and data functionality, Pocket PCs and Smartphones may be able to replace multiple task-specific devices such as a cell phone, personal organizer, pager, calculator, cassette recorder, or walkie-talkie.
Less training required
Exchange ActiveSync technology and Microsoft Outlook Mobile Access, which now offers a user interface similar to Microsoft Office Outlook, makes it easier for new mobile device users to get up and running quickly if they have prior experience with a PC. Users will be productive with Outlook on a Pocket PC more quickly than other devices and require less training and support.
